Here is my official whole foods market hat! Yesterday was my first official day at work, and it was pretty exciting. I am the day time baker/mixer, so I mix up a lot of the muffin batters, pound cakes, and it is a lot of quick breads. Another girl makes all of the cookies, and I will meet my partner today actually. The girl that was showing me around/training me was a girl that actually just left the position for the overnight bread making position, which I think I had briefly talked about last week. They bake a lot of mixes in huge batches for the next couple days use, so not all mixes that are made that day are used that day.
I got to see the pastry team, and they come on Tuesdays to use the mixers for their cakes, only on Tuesdays though. That position looks like so much fun, and I think it is one I would eventually want to try to be in. :)
There is a ton of heavy lifting, and there is only one mixer, but it's the mixer I remember we had in school, not the main ones that we the students used, but the big one that our Chef had, he mostly used it for breads, or very large mixes. I remember we made a lot of cheesecakes one day, and we made them in that very large hobart mixer. It was nice to be in that environment again, it felt like school all over again, and I loved school.
