Oreo Brownies

Chocolate brownies are a classic treat or snack. I remember always wanting a brownie after school for a snack. My mom always allowed us to have an after school snack before we started our homework. I always wanted either a brownie or oreos. I have a huge sweet tooth, as y'all probably know, if you've been following this blog for a hot minute.

Well what could be better than a brownie or oreo cookies, how about oreo cookies baked into brownies?!  Why yes, that sounds absolutely delicious.

You can just use your favorite brownie recipe, I just used a basic brownie recipe on the back of my cocoa powder container, which has since been thrown away, I apologize for that. I should have gotten the recipe off of it before I tossed it! I did add white chocolate chips to the batter after it was mixed.

Though, I feel like brownies are like chocolate chip cookies, I think everyone has their "perfect recipe" that they don't want to part with. That is great, use that recipe!

Before beginning your recipe preheat your oven, as well as lining your baking pan with a good quality aluminium foil (so it can easily be pulled out) as well as spraying it down really well with a nonstick spray. Do not forget to spray the sides as well!

After mixing your favorite batter up, pour half of the batter into your baking pan, and reserve the other half for later use! Now, line the baking pan with oreo cookies, do not over lap the cookies, one single layer will be plenty! (side note- I added a little bit more cocoa powder in my brownie mix so the brownies wouldn't be as sweet, as the oreos add a good amount of sweetness, i didn't want them to be overly sweet. It was a nice balance adding in the extra cocoa powder).

Once the oreos are added, add the rest of your brownie mix, and bake for the time directed on your normal brownie recipe!

Make sure the batter is evenly spread over the top.

Once brownies are baked, allow them to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then lift the foil out of the pan to continue to cool. After cooled completely cut into even squares, I had rather large pieces, because I wanted to make sure every brownie had an oreo cookie inside.

Here, you can see the oreo inside and how fudgy these brownies were, you cannot see the white chocolate chips because they baked into the actual brownie.

These were a huge hit when Chris brought these into work, and I am sure if you make these for a party they will be a hit as well! I think these would make for an excellent Halloween party treat, or a great treat for children. If you are a chocolate lover, you need these in your life!
